Texas Cancer Push Seeks PR

Texas' four-year-old, multibillion-dollar cancer research center has re-started an RFP process for PR support after cancelling a search last year over budget constraints.

The Austin-based Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas was created in 2007 with a $3B voter referendum to fund research and attract public and private institutions, and jobs, to the Lone Star State.

Its RFP released Dec. 21 calls for pitches from agencies with a Texas presence to guide media relations, digital PR and strategic communications for the endeavor.

Budget is $375K through the base year to August 2013 and $250K per year on three renewal options.

The institute cancelled an RFP process in March 2010 after firms had submitted proposals.

Proposals are due Jan. 19.
